What’s up ya’ll! I’m DJ DSharp, producer and official DJ for the Golden State Warriors. I’m juiced to join the Kick’n It family and give ya’ll insight on the official music of the Golden State Warriors, Bay Area hip hop and the overall hip hop scene.

As I write this blog, the Dubs are up 3-0 and looking to sweep the Cavs in the NBA Finals. If I had to choose a song to be the featured song on the NBA Finals soundtrack, it would probably be Playboi Carti’s “Magnolia”. There is just something about that record that’s so fitting for this moment and time. That was until the “superteam” DJ Khaled and Drake decided to drop that new heat with “To The Max“. This record could easily take the place of “Magnolia”. When I was in New Orleans for NBA All-Star Weekend, Khaled had the song of the moment with “Shining” featuring the Carters. Music is key for moments like the Finals, Super Bowl, All-Star etc. As a DJ, I’ve got to always have my ear to the street, especially on big stages like the NBA Finals. Some of the players are specific about what they NEED to hear during warm ups and halftime, so I’ve got to be on top of my game to make sure the Dubs are on top of theirs.

With the official beginning of summer looming, let’s talk potential summer hits. 2 Chainz just dropped “4am” featuring Travis Scott. Off the top, This is my pick to be the club banger of the summer. This joint is fire! It fits in with perfectly with what’s poppin in the club right now. It’s extremely well produced and Trav on the hook is money. Kendrick also recently added some fire to an already stellar, “Mask Off“. He absolutely murdered that joint! Probably a little too lyrical for a track like that but I love real spitters over heavy trap beats. Young Thug, 21 Savage and Migos all released new joints this week as well. Solid joints but they’re probably songs just to keep the fans fed. Travis Scott just dropped his first single “Butterfly Effect” off his forth coming project. Could this be a big record? I don’t know, the verdict ain’t out yet but it’s definitely a solid effort.

In the Bay, my home team keeps coming with heat. G-Eazy just dropped 3 joints online. Most notably is the track with E-40, MadeinTYO and 24hrs,”Shake It Up“. This one is going to have the clubs rockin’ all summer. My man Iamsu got one with his track, “Shake“, definitely a club banger. And if you haven’t heard of SOB x RBE get familiar fast! Their banger “Anti” is the hottest record in the Bay right now! And lastly, I can’t forget Prezi with “Do Better“. The SF native came with one that’s quickly heating up in the clubs.

What do ya’ll think think the song of the summer is gonna be? Hit me up on social media  at @DJDsharp with the hashtag #thatshowimkicknit ! I appreciate ya’ll Kick’n It with me and Go Dubs!
